Elements
FIELD. The imagery for these paintings comes from maps and aerial photographs. Lines trace roads, field boundaries, marks in the landscape. Colours reflect the changing seasons, crops growing and ripening, the light changing over time. The homes are out in the fields with long lanes tethering them to the roads.
BIG SKY. This work refers to the vast expanse of the sky: expanse of openness and light. Each carries the imagery of fence posts, without wire, without confines.
AIR, WIND, WATER. Our modern urban lifestyle removes us from the harshness of the forces of nature. However, these forces are the foundations of our world: fire, water, air, earth. They encompass the climate and weather. Simple in themselves, they are part of a complicated whole.
